- The basics of wildfire smoke and its health effects
- How to understand the Air Quality Index (AQI) and what it means for daily life
- A simple decision-making matrix for outdoor activities
- How to find, interpret, and use smoke forecasts and real-time air quality data
We’ll explore widely available online tools and mobile apps—so feel free to bring your laptop or device to follow along.

Presentation by Alys Holden, former Director of Production at Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) and Central Theatre Group in LA (CTG). She was a key leader in OSF’s wildfire smoke response from 2013–2023, helping to develop practical systems for air quality monitoring, staff safety, and decision-making during smoke events.
